Pride Celebrations & Farewells

This weekend was a very heavy and emotional one. The Lopezjones' kicked of their Pride weekend with a farewell BBQ honoring Kaana with friends and family.
Kaana's friends came to say goodbye one more time.

Pink Saturday at Dolores Park, the twins could not believe how many people there were.
But once in the playground there was plenty of room to run around.
UncleBrad made his annual Pride flight up to celebrate.

Kaana's final breakfast with her American family, on the menu were scrambled eggs, bacon and hashbrowns.
After breakfast the whole family headed downtown for the Pride parade.
 Along with a few neighbors.
The mood was merry and the parade was a lot of fun to see. But in a few hours that would change.
It was time to drive Kaana to her final AFS orientation where she would take a bus to Los Angele and fly home.  But before she could leave friends stop by to say goodbye for a third and final time.
The Lopezjones' had to say goodbye too of course and with emotions high and everyone, over the age of five, on the verge of tears goodbyes and hugs were exchanged.
Ada and Navi were so lucky to have a WONDERFUL big sister for the past 11 months. And the daddies were so proud to be able to call such a wonderful girl their daughter.

Kaana you are always loved here and will be missed.  See you in Japan in a few years.

Zoo Camp - Final Day

On their last day of zoo camp the twins learned about giraffes.  "What did you learn about giraffes today?" asked DaddyQuique, "I forgot," replied Ada.  They both loved zoo camp so much and have asked to go back.  Perhaps next month (schedules permitting) if not next year.

Zoo Camp - Day 4

Penguins.  Their day at the zoo today had something to do with penguins, but they have no idea what.

Zoo Camp - Day 3

It was a cold one today at the zoo.  The fog was thick and the wind was blowing.  Today the twins learned about how animals run. That's all they would share and as long as they have smiles on their faces everyday at pick up it's all the daddies need.

Oh' Canada! Our Home And Native Land!

Kaana had a wonderful time in Vancouver, Canada with her high school dragon boat team. She spent three days in the beautiful city and had some good races on the water. With only five days until she goes back to Japan the thought of her leaving is setting in in the Lopezjones household.

Zoo Camp - Day 2

It was a beautiful day in the Sunset, for once.  Zoo camp runs from 9am to noon and if you ask Navi what he did for three hours he'll say, "I don't know." Push them a little to talk and you might get something out of them.
Eventually Ada revealed that they touched a Koala.  DaddyQuique told them not many people have touched a live Koala (except AuntyHeather and maybe Noah's dad who works at a zoo), so they should feel really special for the opportunity. Anyone else touched a koala? Leave a message on the comments section.

Zoo Camp - Day 1

The twins started zoo camp today and they learned about the California king snake and how it moves.  They were very excited at pick up and can't wait to go again tomorrow.

Friday Free Day

School is out and the twins had a free day. They wanted to go downtown.
So off they went. From the Embarcadero they walked all the wai to Chinatown.
Stopping and a few spots to play.
They both had a great time. Meanwhile their big sister Kaana made it to Vancouver Canada to compete at a dragon boat meet with her school. Good luck Kaana.

Graduation

The twins spent their final day at their preschool today.  It was graduation and Ada was the first to walk the line.
The daddies are not sure she quite understood what was happening, but she went with it.
Part of La Scuola's tradition is for the graduates to wear a laurel crown.  Ada loved the accessories and attention.
Navi on the other hand needed a little help walking down the line to receive his recognition.  DaddyQuique had to carry him down the aisle as he cried to receive his certificate. He did not like the attention.
After a few minutes and a sunflower sword' in had he was just fine.
Congratulations Adalina and Navarro.

Copa Do Mundo Brasil 2014

Excitement for the World Cup caught on at the Lopezjones' household. Navi is cheering for Italy, Ada for Mexico, DaddyQuique for Spain (which has proven to be quite an embarrassment), Kaana is cheering for Japan, and finally PapaJason is cheering for the USA by default.

To Be 17 Again...

After pick up from school DaddyQuique had to keep the twins busy for the afternoon.  Kaana was making preparations at home for something special.  The twins went to the movie theatre and then straight to their room to play with balloons.
Kaana was having her birthday/farewell party with 20+ or her friends. The twins eventually made their way up to the party.  PapaJason BBQ'd for all the teens.
Everyone had fun hanging out and chatting.
Happy Birthday Kaana!

Camping Wekend - Sonoma

As a fundraiser for La Scuola the Lopezjones' attended a camping event in a classmates Sonoma home.
It was a fun time which most of it took place in the pool.
A lot of their friends were there as well as some new ones.
A lot of yummy treats to eat.
 Including smores in the evening.
Everyone had such an enjoyable time and both daddies awoke with the best Father's Day hangovers.

A New Friend

A recent cleaning up of drawers has revealed a doll UncleDoug had given Ada some years ago.  DaddyQuique had put her away because Ada was too young to play her properly, but now that she's five Ada has a new 'baby' to add to her collection.

Beating The Sun

San Francisco has been having some sunny days and the pre-school teachers have recommended the children wear hats. DaddyQuique laughed it off thinking Navi would never wear a hat.  But a recent gift from Linda proved him wrong. Here is Navi and his friend Matteo working in the school garden making terrariums.

Calcio/FĂștbol/Soccer

Over the weekend the twins started a new soccer class.  It was taught in Italian by the one of twins' teacher's husband.
Unfortunately for Ada her 'issue' with new male instructors came back and so she sat out this lesson.

Balloon Fun

AuntyShane came over for dinner one evening and PapaJason decided to try out a little gift AuntyShane had gotten the twins.
Water balloon pumps and biodegradable balloons. It was just a fun activity.
Everyone tried to throw the balloons over the roof into the garden.
Of course not one of the balloons the twins threw made it all the way.

Yep, They Are Still Swimming

Ada & Navi earned a sticker each today. Ada can now swim underwater for a distance of 38ft.  Navi achieved the swimming foundation of blended side breathing with a kickboard.

Huntley Mill Is Now Open!

The Lopezjones' headed north to the Sierra Nevada to open up Huntley Mill.  Never before has Huntley Mill been opened this early in the season.
There was plenty of family there.  Jaxton spent his first days away from his mom and dad. ZiaNonna and ZiaAlisa were there to help Nonna.
Ada and Navi were very excited to spend time with Elio and Ave.
Nonna made pancakes with each of her capable grand kids.
Near the lake DaddyQuique spotted a snake, not the regular water snakes one usually sees.
PapaJason thinks it was a valley garter snake.
