München, Deustschland

The day has arrived and the Lopezjoneses are moving to Europe. Packed with six big pieces of luggage, and Lucy, they headed to the airport. They will fly to Germany and quarantine and then move on to Italy.

SFO was practically empty. With so little travelers due to the many restrictions around the world they had an easy check in, It took a little bit of time to review PapaJason's Italian passport, the marriage certificate and the twins' birth certificates. Since Americans are not currently allowed entry into Europe they flew on PapaJason's Italian passport which allows the entry of their spouse and children under the age of 21.

The twins had one of the best transcontinental flights ever. On a plane with a capacity of over 300 there were only about 50 passengers. Which means each kid got to share a row of seat with their dad & papa.

After an almost 11 hour flight, they landed early in Munich, another empty airport.

Lucy did so well on the flight, but the poor thing has been in her carrier for over 15 hours.
The Lopezjoneses grabbed their rental car and filled it to capacity. It was a very tight squeeze, but they fit everything and everyone.

Now, it's time to get over the jet lag in quarantine while they wait their covid-19 test results they took at the airport upon landing (awesome job Germany). This time around it was a mouth swab and not nasal.

A Neighborhood Farewell

On their last evening in San Francisco, the Lopezjoneses welcomed many of their neighbors for a farewell drink. The twins were excited to see everyone, especially the neighborhood dogs. They also got to play with in the neighbor's tree one last time.

ZiaNonna Farewell

Sunday evening the twins had guests for dinner. Nonna stopped by, and Ada knowing what she learned from TiaNana in Salinas gave her Nonna a manicure.
ZiaNonna was there to say farewell to the twins before their trip in a few days. She was very happy to see the blog back in action.

Salinas Overnight & Farewells

The twins headed to Salinas for an overnight and to say goodbye to Abue and Abuelito. Lucky for them Alexis and Luna (Amaris) were there too, with Benji. Luna was not very interested in the adults, but she was fascinated with Ada and Navi.
It was great for all their cousins to be there together to say goodbye before their big trip in a few days.
They had such a great time and were very happy for the opportunity to see Benji.
The next morning TiaNana gave Ada a gel manicure. Abue cried in her goodbyes to the twins and their dads. It was not mentioned before, but the Lopezjoneses are moving to Italy for a year.

California Fires

There are over 20 fires in the bay area, in every county except San Francisco, and many other fires in California. Most were due to a couple days of weather that produced constant lighting. The twins have stayed inside for the past couple of days because the air quality outside has been really bad - exacerbated by the heat wave. The picture above is smoke, not pollution. Online school is going fair, Ada has a harder time than her brother focusing on a screen for long periods of time. Lucky for them they only have 3 more days of La Scuola for this school year.

First Week Of School

For the first week of school the school has been transitioning the students back into a schedule. Thursday morning their first class was at 10:00am, so early in the morning they managed to sneak in a little hike and rock climbing time in Corona Heights.

As well as some tree climbing time.

Back at home they settled into their spaces and began their lessons. There were a few glitches with the technology, but for the most part La Scuola is doing a superb job with the online learning.

A Covid 6th Grade

The twins started their first day of 6th grade today. Not a normal first day of school. They went to their campus for a 2 hour socially distant orientation - with face coverings. The rest of the school will be online.

They did their usual walk through Dolores Park, with their Dad at Ada's request. Navi was given permission to run ahead - and he did.

At school they met only their 6th grade classmates (no more combined grade), which comprised of no more than 15 students. They waited patiently for the doors to open, socially distant of course.

The school set up tables and chairs outside. They met with their teachers and socialized with their classmates. It was good for them mental state to have this little bit of normalcy.

Later that day, on their way to the dentist, they stopped at a pharmacy to get their flu shot.

Don't forget to get your flu shot this year! And vote!!!

They're Back!

Hello!

I started this blog when the twins were 2 days old, as a way to inform family/friends of their doings and adventures. After 11 years, I decided to end the blog and move on to other hobbies. Well, because of today's situation around the world I decided to restart it for our upcoming new and grand adventure.  I last posted a year ago yesterday - Enjoy!

Pandemic! Back in March the twins' school closed the campus and school went online due to Covid-19. They managed to make it to Hawai'i for a few days before the US (mainly California then) took a pause as they learned more about this virus. Everyone got back safe and Covid free to San Francisco, continued with online school, work from home, and sheltering in place.

Summer was officially canceled - as was Costa Rica, school's Yosemite sleep away, and Bali. As the state began to 'open-up' they made due with trips to isolated and remote places, like Weed, CA and of course Huntley Mill. The twins had the opportunity to camp couple of times with plenty of space to spread out and enjoy the outdoors.

School (online) resumes in two days. Stay tuned with these two.

Cheers to all, especially front line workers (thank you).
