Burrito Night

One night for dinner Gian Marco proposed a genius idea for dinner, burritos! All the ingridients were gathered, carne asada and pollo asado, and the key ingredients were the giant tortillas and the green salsa (avocado was added to make it creamy).
Each burrito was made to everyone's liking, and they were some big burritos.
Yet somehow everyone managed to finish them all.

More of Mexico

On a day excursion the Lopez and Lopezjoneses dicided to g to an island off of Ixtapa, the neighboring town, Isla Ixtapa. Before the dock they got to see the Danza De Los Volradores (Dance of the Flyers). People hang of a really tall pole with a rope tied to their feet that's wound up on the pole. The pole spins and the flyers launch themselves in the air slowly unwinding the rope making it safely to the ground.
This would have been a perfect family photo, but unfortunately the person I asked to take the picture does not know how to use an iPhone.
Isla Ixtapa was beautiful. A small island with three beaches (four if you count the nude one) all lined with restaurants.

Abue went all out as a tourist and ordered herself festive drink.

The twins got one also, but Ada did not want to share so she got her own (this would not have happened with the daddies alone, but her Abuelitos were there and insisted she have her own if she wanted it).
The beach was not the best for playing as it was a coral sand beach, but Navi didn't mind.
By far this was the best snorkeling the Daddies have ever seen in the Zihua/Ixtapa area, many different varieties of fish in one place. AND you did not even have to wear a snorkel mask to see the fish. In fact you did not have to put your head under water to see them!
Now the food, YUM! For lunch everyone went with a Pescadilla which included a large grilled fish, 3 lobsters, 20 shrimp with sides of rice and salad. Between all of them they managed to finish it.
Great times were had in Mexico. Everyday Ada and Navi would go to the Abarrotes across the street to buy sweets and sometimes they would go by themselves. Every time they climbed the stairs they would stop to say hello to Carola, the resident parrot.
Ada and Navi loved this trip. This time around theywere more independent by venturing out on their own, ordering food/drinks for themselves, going to and from the room by themselves and going out to buy their own treats. They know the town well and the staff at the hotel which makes it even better to come back every year.

Ps. The plane ride back the twins were such troopers. After many delays on both flights they all made it back safe home at 1:00AM!

Zihua, Mexico

With two jacuzzis in their suite the dads were a bit cautious about letting the twins use it because they might get the floors wet.
But DaddyQuique gave in and set it up for them.
When in Zihua the Lopezjoneses always go to Playa Las Gatas.
The water is beautiful and clear.
Great for snorkeling. Both kids did really good and were not afraid at all. Even Ada improved a lot from the last time she snorkeled.
Everyone is truly enjoying the R&R.
A little half way through someone showed up!
Abue and Abuelito were in their hometown and took a bus to Zihua to hang out with Ada and Navi. They are loving it.

Seeking Warm Weather

Ada and Navi got up pretty early last week to catch a flight and head south of the border for warm sandy beaches.
They were back in Zihuatanejo at a very familiar hotel...
"The one with the big slide," they call it. Notice Navi at the bottom of the slide and Ada at the top, or is it vice versa - you decide.
The twins love this hotel especially more because now that they are older they go across the street to the abarrotes and purchase sweets. They have been purchasing gum, lots of gum.
Both have been enjoying the beach tremendously and the food they have been adventurous and trying out new things.
They love this town.

Random Pictures

Here's a few pictures from 2016 and early 2017 that didn't make on to the blog.
A day at the zoo. The hippo was the most active DaddyQuique has seen him in seven years.
 WeHo urban art.
An afternoon at the Academy of Sciences with Navi's best friend Matteo.
 Tom & Jerry's Christmas house.
A slight distraction on on the way to getting a manicure.

Getting caught up in the rain on the way home.
And a birthday party at House of Air.

Three King's Day

The twins celebrated the day of the Tres Reyes Magos by placing their shoes outside their bedroom door in hopes that the three Wise Men will stop by and leave gifts. A tradition celebrated my DaddyQuique as a child when vacationing in Mexico during the holidays.
Even though they did not put out treats for the Wise Men or hay for the animals to entice them - they still managed to stop by. Notice that Navi put out his hiking boot (which he never wears), his thought was that since it is bigger it will fit more gifts.
The next morning the twins discovered their gifts. A comic book, a woden craft puzzle and a bath fizz.

Happy New Year!

The Lopezjoneses headed south on a road-trip for the New Year's holiday weekend. They stopped in Santa Clarita to visit Grandpa's cousin Bobby. She was very happy to see the twins and enjoyed lunch with them at a local park.
Moving on to Los Angeles, the joined joined UncleBrad at his apartment in West Hollywood. That evening they all went out for some amazing pizza in the neighborhood.
Ada and Navi visited a museum that began with an IMAX 3-D movie of space.
And then went off to see a certain 'flying machine' featured in the movie and is now parked at the California ScienCenter.
 The Space Shuttle Endeavour.
There was lots of yummy dinners and lunches.  One such lunch just happened to have a little bit of entertainment.
Ada and Navi saw their first Drag Show at WeHo's Hamburger Mary's. The entertainment was a little bit "spicy" but nothing they could not handle.
They spent a bit of time at a particular playground, next to the WeHo Library-which they visited. The walk to the playground and UncleBrad's apartment was a perfect walk for these two.
UncleBrad hosted a NYE party. The twins ate at the party and thought it best to read a chapter of their bedtime book, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, and then go to bed. The next day, as a great cure for hangovers, the twins UncleBrad and DaddyQuique went out for tacos! PapaJason needed some more time in bed.

Happy 2017!
