Canadian Guest

The Lopezjoneses hosted a relative from up north for a few days. Sara was touring around the US and decided to stop in San Francisco for a few days.

Nonna, Grandpa and ZioRoger made it down for a dinner to see Sara.

The twins were excited to have someone to hang out with other than their parents. One Sunday Sara joined the twins for some outdoor fun in the park and then sushi boat for lunch.

Navi

Navi finally got a professional and descent haircut over the weekend. The dad's favorite barber was available to to cut half the family's hair. Navi still wanted to keep his hair long, but DaddyQuique wanted him to have some style to it and keep the sides short.

So, voila! Stylish and modern.

After haircuts the Lopezjoneses had lunch in the Castro, after finishing his lunch Navi asked to wait outside. Somebody out there recognized Navi up on the light traffic light, Linda!

Zihuatanejo - Part 4: Getting Home

Leaving Zihuatanejo the Lopezjoneses flight home was disrupted by a light arrival causing them to miss their check-in to their connecting flight in Mexico City (CDMX) by TWO MINUTES!! So their afternoon direct flight home was re-booked to an evening flight to San Diego where they would stay overnight and fly home on a 6am flight.

Well, they made it onto the plane and after 2.5 hours, mechanical problems, needing to refuel their flight was canceled. By midnight they checked into a hotel across the street from the airport and re-booked on a direct flight to SF the next day in the afternoon.

Waking up and eating breakfasts they had plenty of time to leave the airport and explore the dads' faovorite city, so off they went on the Metro.

The idea was to go to CDMX's grand park Bosque de Chapultepec (1,695 acres of green space, lakes, museums and a castle), but unfortunately that park is closed on Mondays. So instead they headed into the Condesa neighborhood and found parks there with excellent playgrounds.

The beauty of this neighborhood and its parks is outstanding.

And its architecture ranges from all styles. DaddyQuique was very happy to be able to spend time in his most favorite area in CDMX.

The twins did not mind especially since they got to enjoy some gazpacho (fruit salad).

Finally making it home over a day later they were greeted at home with UncleHeather and her friend MissSally who was visiting form Australia.

Sally prepared dinner for the Lopezjoneses and even UncleDoug joined the party.

Zihuatanejo - Part 3

As is now the norm the Lopezjoneses one day headed to the pier in town to catch a boat headed to Playa Las Gatas.

Here is where the dads catch their suba boat to go diving. This year there was not babysitter lined up for the twins. They were introduced to the chef in the kitchen and told to order snack and drinks the dads would see them in two hours.

When the dads returned they were happy to hear Ada and Navi were well behaved. Except one dad did not approve of them taking the beach furniture into the water for a chicken match.

Many of the days on the beach blended together. It was not always sit on a beach every day - well actually it was, but they did more than just that. There were walks into the local supermarket and stopping to pet stray cats.

There was one morning that PapaJason attempted to get a workout at the gym and his two gym buddies proved to be more a problem than help.

One afternoon there was a Papa & daughter spa session.

Dinners out Navi found his favorite plate, BB-Q ribs.

One afternoon Ada got her hair braided, but for some reason was too shy for pictures.

 For $30MP ($1.50US), they saw a new release movie at the local theater.

After a day with her braids in, and a few fixes she did herself Ada did enjoy her new hairdo.

I couple times in the week the beach produced some really great waves. Here's Navi doing what he does best on the beach, play in the waves.

Everyone had a fantastic time and will miss very much having breakfast next to the beach.

Zihuatanejo - Part 2

Early in the week the Lopezjoneses headed to Isla Ixtapa.

A fun spot they discovered last year with Abue & Abuelito off the coast of the neighboring town Ixtapa.

Ada and Navi remebered from last year the pineapple drinks and ordered one this year as well. Unlike last year there were not enough people to order a Mariscada. So lunch was a la carte.

The island has a great little beach for snorkeling. Ada had bought a sun shirt because she lapsed in her sunscreen reapplication and her back needed a break from the sun.

The snorkeling was not that great, but still fun. Until a school of tiny jellyfish moved in.

The jelly fish did not deter Navi from playing in the sand or snorkeling in the surf...

Where quite a few large fish would hang out.

Back in Zihuat, Carola is always greeting guests with, "Hellos" and "Holas."

The downtown still maintains it charm and is fun to walk about.

Back in their room the twins enjoyed their jacuzzi and played well together.

Zihuatanejo - Part 1

The twins are on Spring Break this week and the Lopezjoneses arrived in Zihuatanejo. Usually they come earlier in the year. The area looked a little yellower than usual, but the water was still a beautiful blue and the beaches inviting.

As dry as the surrounding hills were the hotel grounds were green and lush as usual. Navi took to the pool right away. Here's a picture of him from his room balcony. He was the only one in the pool, apparently after the Easter festivities mark the end of the high tourist season.

With no kitchen in their room this time, dinners have been out in town every night. Which gives way for coktail/piñada hour! Piñadas are piña coladas without the alcohol.

Dinners of course are had at old favorite restaurants.

And new ones recommended by seat mates on the flight there.

Afterwards, if the twins were well behaved at dinner, they can have little treat before heading back to the hotel. Which is needed since the night temperatues stay in the mid 70's.

Breakfasts are always at the hotel restaurant, beach side. Most mornings Ada and Navi have sugary cereals, but it's okay with the dads - they are on vacation.

The days are simple. Slather up with sunscreen and head to the beach.

Ada and Navi pretty much entertain themselves, that is until things go south and the dads need to intervene. They really do need to learn to handle themselves in certain situations without all the loud drama that disturbs the peaceful surroundings.

Lunch is always on the beach. Kids are able to read the menu and are familiar with most of the cuisine so they order on their own in Spanish. On the first night's dinner Navi ordered lasagna and both dads could not say anything even though they were on a beach town, with fisherman out every morning catching fish to supply the restaurants with local seafood. One night though DaddyQuique did have to speak up an not allow one of them to have nachos as their main for dinner. (Side note: Nachos were invented in Texas)

After the beach it's on to the pool. To rinse of the sand and salt and to enjoy the water slide.

There is however time in the day to do a little bit of work.

Spirti Week

La Scuola celebrated Spirit Week before heading off for Spring Break. Ada was very excited to dress up. On Wednesday many kids wore their pajamas to school, DaddyQuique drove them to school that morning in stead of making them take the bus. The next day it was Decades Day representing 40's, 50's, 80's & 90's. Ada went with the easy choice of 80's, she liked the colors. And the last day was Wacky Clothes Day, sadly DaddyQuique did not get any pictures of their dress up that day.

Easter 2018

The Lopezjoneses headed to Salinas for an overnight to celebrate Easter. Marky had just finished hi spring break with his dad and was now happy to spend time with Ada and Navi.

For the most part Ada, Navi and Marky spent their time outside playing and helping decorate for Easter.

After everyone ate food the easter egg hunt began. There were a few relatives missing, but spirits were high as always.

There was a large amount of cascarones this year, some left over from last year even, so everyone searching had a good haul.

Surely enough the egg cracking sarted.

Although for some, one needed to get down a bit.

With so many eggs available this was the longest egg cracking ever.

Marky and Isaac had plenty of eggs in their basket to crack on heads. Isaac this year found the golden egg filled with money!

There were some cascarones that did not get hidden and the young adults and adults made sure they did not got to waste.
