Fun Filled Weekend

The Lopezjoneses started the weekend with a bike ride just south of San Francisco.

After they met Nonna and Grandpa for a dim-sum brunch.

The next day the Lopezjoneses were at it again enjoying the sunny weather.

They walked from their home in Dolores Park all the way to a restaurant in the Avenuse, they walked 3.8 miles there!

Walking back home they crossed through Golden Gate Park and the twins stopped for an afternoon snack at a doughnut shop. Everyone was pretty tired.

A Burial

Back home and rested from their vacation, the Lopezjoneses headed to Corte Madera one afternoon to lay Nikko to rest. He was buried with his favorite blanket.

Buried along with other pets including Jackie and Pete.

The twins picked some flowers from the surroundings to place on his grave.

Ada and Navi were not sad and were very comfortable helping out.

The Lopezjoneses stayed for dinner with Nonna and Grandpa.

Ada set up the table and included some goblets Nonna received for her wedding.

Mexico - Morelia

Saturday afternoon the Lopezjoneses boarded a bus to Morelia, Michoacan.

They were visiting family friends of the Joneses.

Who happen to live in a gated street with a sea-saw, and again this did not end well.

In the garden the twins picked some peppers.

Quite a few actually.

Leticia was at her sisters house who hosted the Lopezjoneses.

And a few critters too.

After a delicious meal everyone headed inside the house, the temperature dropped really fast and low.

Inside the adults reminisced about the past while the twins colored to keep themselves entertained.

Thanks to Blanca and her family for hosting the Lopezjoneses. Early the next morning they ordered a taxi to the airport and boarded a plane home!

Viva Mexico

Mexico - Cuitzeo

One afternoon the Lopezjoneses and Abue, headed to Cuitzeo, Michoacan for lunch (Cutizio is a Pueblos Magicos, more on that below).

But first a little snack, gazpacho! This time around the twins were able to order on their own in Spanish.

It was a very nice day and everyone enjoyed their snack in the jardín.

Then it was a short walk to a lakeside eatery that DaddyQuique would go to as a kid every time he visited the area.

 A lot has improved in the restaruant, which used to be a single building. Now there's outdoor seating and plenty of things to keep kids occupied.

There they met Mester, TiaDalila, Kayla, TiaIrma and her husband Anselmo. Specialty of the restaurant were charales, small fish from the lake prepared breaded, in crispy tortillas or in a soup.

Navi opted for some ceviche tostadas, PapaJason some spicy frog legs, DaddyQuique and Ada various cuts of steak.

Afterwards the adults enjoyed table/lake side conversation. The twins kept occupied with a few play structures.

Or walking about the lake.

Everyone had a fantastic lunch!

Walking back to town the Lopezjoneses parted with the rest of the family so they can wonder around cuitzio. Note the clouds!

 Cuitzeo is a Pueblo Magico, in that much of the town is protected by the government to keep it's look and culture. It really is a beautiful town.

Walking through town the came upon a religious procession, with fireworks. Navi did not enjoy the noise.

The town square is dominated by an old nunnery.

Next to it they found a park with a playground and just as the twins began to play the rain did also.

The Lopezjoneses ran to the nearest open church to get our of the rain. Navi however enjoyed hiding under the thick trees of the jardín.

Before boarding a bus and heading home, the gazpacho stand was closed, they stopped in a cafe for gelatin. Or at least DaddyQuique thought the twins were getting a cup or orange gelatin, instead they got a really decked out waffle shell-bowl of gelatin with all the works, at least it had apples and strawberries.

Back home that night for dinner, after a big lunch and heavy snacking, every decided to go easy on dinner; pan dulce.

Mexico - Hunadacareo Michoacán

Friday morning was the day the twins were waiting for on this Mexican adventure. They hopped on a bus from Moroleon to Cuitzeo and then a 40min colectivo ride to Huandacareo.

Their excitement? A waterpark! DaddyQuique would come here during his youth, come to find out these are themal water baths. The water temperature? 96.8F.

Ada and Navi put on their bathing suits and jumped right in. DaddyQuique remembers the giant water slide in the background, but sadly this time around it was closed for renovations. The twins were a little disappointed.

They've made improvements since dad's youth. They've added a kids section to the park. As soon as Ada was in the water (we were some of the very first patrons there), the employees turned on the water works.

It really was a beautiful spot for children.

The dad's enjoyed the kid waterslide, even though they got banged up a bit.

The kids section did not keep these two there for long. They liked the bigger pools.

The 6 years of swim classes really paid off!

This particular water park (there's about 5 in the area) was on the biggest piece of land. They had huge gardens and a playground for kids.

Lunch at the waterpark was the best! Flautas, tacos, huaraches and $1beers! The twins begged to come back the next day, but they will for sure the next time they find themselves in Moroleon.
