Late Harvest

 The end of summer and start of fall brought some summer weather. And by some miracle the tomatoes in the garden turned red.

The twins enjoyed choosing and picking their own tomato to eat. Check out the pumpkin, just in time for Halloween.

City of Angels

 On the last day in LA the twins and Kaana went to Hancock Park.

 To check out the La Brea Tar Pits.

 They got to see some of the fossils they have found in the tar and a active dig site.

 It was a sunny LA day, perfect to spend in a park.

 The Page Museum had some outdoor exhibits.  Navi was excited to walk under this giant boulder.

For lunch, Canters on Faifax a Jewish deli, bakery and restaurant.

 

The final stop in Souther California, Venice Beach.

 Everyone had a great time even though the flights getting there and back ran into some delays. Thank you to Uncle Brad for hosting everyone.

Hollywood

 Over the weekend the Lopezjones' headed to Los Angeles .

Uncle Brad hosted the twins and Kaana in his brand new apartment.

 Aunty Heather flew in for the fun.  She was Ada's new best friend for the entire weekend.

This was Kaana's and the twins' first time in LA.

 All three kids had to stop and take a picture with Mickey.

After some walking/sightseeing the twins got to play at the WeHo playground. The adults needed to tire them out so they would take a nap to prepare them for the event of the weekend.

But first a little lunch at West Hollywood's #1 gay bar, The Abbey. Next, a nap for some and shopping for others.

That evening everyone headed to the Hollywood Bowl for the main event of the weekend...

 The Hollywood Bowl Sound Of Music Sing-Along with guest appearances from Gretl (Kym Karath) and Brigitta (Angela Cartwright).

The movie was long and went well into the night.  The twins did great staying up and watching the movie. Ada and Navi did not sing, but they had a lot of fun that evening watching everyone sing and interact with the movie.

It's Warming Up

 It was a hot one today.  At the kids' school temperatures reached the high 80s. In The Mission the temperatures were still high so after pickup Ada and Navi stopped at a park to cool down.

 At first they played around the water running very excitedly.

After about 10 minutes they were splashing and getting their entire body's wet.

Lopez Family Camping Weekend

Ada, Navi and Daddy Quique were the first ones to arrive at camp.

Once Abue, Tia Elva, Ximena and Gisselle arrived it was lunch time, tortas.

It was a good thing all the tents were put up right away because a thunderstorm quickly moved in and this happened.

The hail was very pretty and blanketed the camp in white. All the kids were at the cabin during this time and had fun catching and eating the hail.

 The storm did not ease up until the very last minute before dinner, but by that time there was no good fire for cooking so everyone headed to the cabin to cook dinner.  Later PapaJason and Kaana arrived and joined the fun.

 All the kids had a lot of fun at the lake.

 And with a big sister it made it easier (by having someone willing to take them out in the water) for the twins to have even more fun.

 The next night, the thunderstorms had passed, dinner was at camp and everyone enjoyed the yummy food. Grandpa, Nonna and ZioRoger enjoyed it too.

 There were tennis lessons the next day.

Thanks to Nonna and the tennis machine.

But every one's favorite thing about camping was the roasting of marshmallows.

Accessorizing

Ada has the dress-up down and now she focuses on the details. She is very particular about her hair.  When it's combed and put in a pony tail she always wants it, "down, not up." She chooses her clips according to colors that match her clothes. Sometimes she takes the un-ordinary and turns them into fabulous accessories.

A Spoon Full of Sugar...

 The Lopezjones', Linda and Dante attended the Mary Poppins Sing-Along in the Castro Theatre on Sunday. Everyone was really excited and the crowd attending was even more excited.

There were goodie bags handed out (left overs from the Wizard of Oz sing-along) that kept the twins pre-occupied before the movie started. Ada and Navi did very well for the first half.  But by the end, having seen the movie before, they were seeking out other modes of entertainment.  Thank goodness Linda came prepared with little treats to keep them in their seats. Perhaps next year will be the year...

Land's End Hike

 It's 'officially' Summer in San Francisco, our first heat wave of the season. The Lopezjones' left the house early before it got too hot and went for a hike.

 There was a little stop to the beach of course.  Kaana, Ada and Navi got to dip their feet into the cold Pacific Ocean.

 Navi built sand castles and Ada practiced writing her name.

Thanks to a friendly jogger we were able to get a great family picture.

Wakey Wakey

The other morning Navi had to be woken up.  It was 7:20am, the latest he's slept in...

Labor Day Camping

 It was that time of year again when the twins hosted many family and friends for a big camping weekend.

Ada got to share a tent with her big sister, she was very excited and did very well. They both decorated their space with items found all around them.

 Navi was very happy to see his cousin Benji.  They both were stuck at the him all weekend.

 ZiaNonna was there too and she was very happy to spend time with the twins.

Ada loved getting a lot of attentino from her Nonna.  She would leave camp and hang out with Nonna, ZiaNonna and Elio hours at a time.

At the lake Ada and Benji were the two brave ones, under 5 feet tall, to walk through the shallow part of the lake.  They did not completely submerge themselves, but enjoyed being tummy deep in water.

 Camp was so much fun.  There was lots of good food, conversations and games.  Every morning PapaJason made hot chocolate for all the little ones and the teens.

 Elio had so much fun hanging out at camp.  Smoures time was everyone's favorite activity.

Although Navi might have enjoyed his ride on the ATV with ZioRoger over the smores.

 Noah had brought a hammock and set up to share with his friends.

A great time was had by all. Happy Labor Day.
