Pier 39, San Francisco

For this week's outing the twins go to choose where to go. They wanted to go to Pier 39, Kaana came along for the fun. They took the train downtown and it was such a nice day they they all decided it was a good idea to walk to Pier 39 from the Ferry Building.
Along the way they stopped to see some sights and got a chance to see a cruise ship. Once at Pier 39 they wanted to check out the piano stairs. The stairs were actual piano keys with sound. Then the main attraction was an interactive 3-D game in which they shot a a giant screen with lazer guns while the seats moved in motion with the game.
After they played a few more games at the arcade next door. They could have spent more of their afternoon sight seeing, but Ada and Navi needed to be back home for their music lessons.

Salinas Overnight

This weekend was supposed to be the Lopez camping weekend, but it was ready early this year. So instead the twins and Kaana headed to Salinas for a Lopez Family outing. The first place the twins go to, as always, upon arrival is the garden. They say hi to Larry and Ada goes straight to picking fruit. This time there were plums and a few raspberries ready for picking.
Later that morning DaddyQuique was in charge of buying the bolillos, sandwich rolls, for their lunch during the hike. It was a big order.
Marky and his mom, Ximena, Abue, tias Dalila, Irma and Elva were part of the hiking group. Arriving at Pt. Lobos Sate Natural Reserve the parking lot was full so they had to park off the highway and walk into the park.
It was a nice 20 minute walk.
Enough so that it was lunch time at the start of the hiking point..
Once the hike commenced, the views were spectacular. The speed of the hike was slow. It was too slow for the younger crowd.
But they made due and walked ahead.
Back in Salinas that evening the twins and Marky spent all their time in the garden playing. They still had plenty of energy to burn.
They did get a chance to see other family. Ada is now taller than her great-grandmother, Mester.

Summer Outings

With the 4th of July over, Huntley Mill not open and no camps on the schedule, DaddyQuique is on full dad mode for the next couple of weeks. So one day he decided to take the ferry to Sausalito and have lunch.
It was a great day to pass the day, but unfortunately they had music class that afternoon and right after lunch had to take the ferry back to San Francisco.
Navi has been walking to and from his Music lesson in the heart of Noe Valley on his own for some time. Ada still feels she needs a chaperone. This particular day they did not have a car so they relied on MUNI to get to and from her music lessons at the edge of Noe Valley.
Another time Kaana, the twins and DaddyQuique decided to go to the Mission Pool. It was a nice day for it and the best part - they had the deep end half of the pool to themselves. Many children were on the shallow end and could not swim properly to take the deep water test. Which the twins excelled at, it consisted of swimming from one side of the pool to the other 4 times and floating for 1 minute.
This pool was walking distance and very conveniently affordable for kids, $1!
Another time the twins went to House of Air in The Presidio to let out some energy.
One time they even went biking in their neighborhood. But of course living on a hill is tough. Ada walked it to and from to get to the flat part of Church Street.
There's been a few downtown visits. Mainly starting at the Ferry Building to try free samples of foods. Then walk around downtown, stopping at playgrounds.
Best of all - the lunches!

Guess Who's Back?

Kaana is back! She's visiting us from Japan for three weeks. She was afraid the twins would not remember her, but they do. Ada and Navi were both excited to see her.

San Francisco Pride

Pride day UncleBrad and the Lopezjoneses headed downtown for the annual Pride Parade.
They have their favorite spot near Montgomery St. near the live filming of the parade.
As usual the parade was very colorful as usual.
There was even a pet pig in the parade this year.
Sadly, somebody was not feeling the energy. So after seeing a little bit of the start of the parade they headed home in search of lunch.
They found a new pizzeria that opened up down the street form home making wood fired Neapolitan pizzas.

Pink Party 2019

The end of June means it is time to celebrate. UncleBrad came up from L.A. to celebrate San Francisco Pride. Arriving Friday afternoon he got to hang out with the twins and go out to dinner. Dinner of course began with oysters, Navi loved the tiny bottle of hot sauce.
The next morning, UncleBrad needed to do some shopping for something pink. So to The Castro they went searching for something pink and lunch.
Meanwhile the festivities at Dolores Park were in full gear. The park was crowded, as it is every year.
That afternoon guests began to arrive. The game table was set up in the dining room.
But the real party was upstairs.
A few friends from their school came to the party.
The younger crown mostly hung out downstairs.
By the evening kids were tired and watched a movie while the adults continued the party upstairs.

La Scuola Camp

The twins are attending camp at La Scuola, but at the pre-k campus in the Dogpatch. They are the oldest kids there by far and yet are having a great time. Most of the day they are free to 'tinker,' build or make whatever they'd like. They are loving the unstructured time.
Navi has been busy all week building.
Yesterday this guy came home with him.
Ada has taken up sewing. Her goal this week is to make a pillow.

Zoo Camp

Once again the twins went to summer Zoo Camp. Every year they insist they don't like it, but after the first day they leave with smiles and admit they like it. This year they got to see plenty of behind the scenes action including bear feedings and the new chimpanzee enclosure.

Chapel Hill, North Carolina

After four days in Utah, Navi and Dads headed east to meet up Ada, Bea and family. From the airport to Bea's house to drop off luggage they went straight to the pool.
It was a great day for the pool. Navi practiced on his flips off the dive board the whole time.
After much swimming dinner came in the form of a BB-Q and if you know Bea's dad you know everyone ate very well.
Ada had such a great time with Bea. They went to the mall and bought same outfits.
They rode bikes in the neighborhood.
Navi and Bea's brother Holton enjoyed scooters.
One night they went to the nearby university for an outdoor Bluegrass concert.
That evening Ada and Bea put on a show at home. They had so much fun.
Ada had a great time, even if the rest of her family came to spoil her time alone with Bea.
She still got plenty of alone time with her 'till the end. Here they are eating shaved ice at 9:30PM, she had to wake up at 5:00AM the next morning for her flight home.
