Make Up Post

The blog has been slow for a bit this month so here's a few random pictures.
A special after school snack on the walk home.
 Can you find the twins?
Karate class has been going well.  The twins have earned two stripes on their white belt.
This was at brunch at a Mexican restaurant.

"Let's Go Fly A Kite... Up To The Highest Height"

A change in routine, to avoid sandy feet, the twins have been attempting to fly kites before their swim lessons.
They get them up in the air, for less than a minute, when the wind picks up, but it does not last long.
Navi's kite achieved some great heights.  Ada's kite is a little more finicky, but she enjoyed running all around getting her kite up in the air.

Show & Tell

Ada & Navi brought a special 'item' to school today for Show & Tell, their cousin Gian Marco. It was Ada's presentation, but she was shy and did not say much so Navi helped out a little. Gian Marco did most of the talking and took questions form the classmates. It went well.

Salinas Weekend

Ada and Navi headed to Salinas over the weekend to spend a few days with Abue and Abuelito.
On Sunday the daddies headed to Salinas or a Mother's day BBQ and to pick up the twins as well.  Ada and Navi got a little surprise and got to see and play with their cousin Benji.
Happy Mother's Day!

The Season Is Over!!

On Saturday Ada had her final soccer match in the morning. All the girls were having a lot of fun and enjoying the game.
It was their last game of the season and everyone had such a fun time playing soccer.
After Ada's match the Lopezjones' and Nonna went out for a sushi lunch and then a walk at Land's End.
Afterwards it was back to the Marina Green for Navi's last match.
All the boys had so much fun on the field, off the field everything in between.

Samuel Taylor State Park

Last Sunday the Lopezjones' headed north to Marin County for the day.
A few classmates joined Ada and Navi for a bike ride, everyone was really excited.
A light lunch was taken at an old bridge.
All the kids did well and covered a good distance on their bikes. Numerous breaks were taken to recharge with snacks through out the ride.
Overall, the kids led the front of the group and had so much fun.
Afterwards, the group headed to Tomales Bay for oysters. The kids had fun playing by the shore picking up shells and getting really muddy. It was fun for the adults too because there were two 9 year olds keeping the younger ones busy.

Night Out

On Saturday, after her game Ada went to Corte Madera for an overnight with Nonna, Grandpa and Sophie. Navi got to hang out with his daddies and they took him out for oysters and a mocktail. He enjoyed the oysters and matched his dads oyster to oyster.
Then dinner, dessert included.  He loved the panna cota with donuts and vanilla almond cream.
The daddies really enjoyed the cocktails.  And Navi's company of course.

Reading Coming To Life

The twins has just finished a book called, "Horrible Harry And The Green Slime." And it came with a recipe for green slime.
Ada and Navi had a lot of fun the the different consistencies of the slime, it was a great science lesson.

Calcio

Soccer/Futbol is going pretty good for the twins.  They are really enjoying themselves and that's what counts! Here's a celebration after Navi scored a goal, or perhaps they were just celebrating to celebrate.
Here's a little action from Navi. Forza Draghi Blu! Navi is number 6 and tends to fall a lot, if he perfects his falls maybe he can go pro in Europe! (J/K)
A little later in the day Ada had her game.  She shared with her team mate matching headbands.  This game was one of the best games of the Ragazze Veloce so far, they did really good at paying attention and playing the game.

Memorial Service

After landing at SFO from Albuquerque the twins headed straight down to Santa Cruz for PapaJason's second cousin from his dad's side's memorial service, Mark. Their cousin Liam, 4,  took to the twins right away and they had a fun time together. They had met once before, but both were quite young to remember it.
The memorial service was not a sad event.  It was more of a party to celebrate Mark's life.  The twins met Mark a few times before he passed away, once at their birthday party, another in Los Gatos and again at Huntley Mill.  Ada and Navi got to meet Bobbi from Southern California for the third time once in the womb, another time in her home in Pasadena and now. The twins don't see a lot of their Grandpa's side of the family much so this was the day to do so.

Albuquerque, New Mexico

For the last part of their spring break Ada and Navi headed to Albuquerque. A first for the daddies, they walked out on the tarmac at SFO to board the small plane flying them to the southwest.
First stop was lunch and then to the University to see AuntyHeater whom the twins call UncleHeather. They got a tour of the lab where her students were doing cell research. There were a lot of interesting things, here they are in one of the temperature regulated rooms.
UncleBrad was there too.  One day the twins went to the Explora museum where there were many hands on science exhibits for young minds to try out, kind of the equivalent of the Exploratorium in SF, but a huge fraction of the price...

And this elevator.
A few nights the twins had dinner at restaurants and other nights they had dinner at home.
There was a day trip to Santa Fe where they had lunch and explored the Santa Fe Plaza, which dates back to 1610, and saw many local goods for sale made by the area's Native Americans.
On another day the twins went to the zoo.
Where they met up with AuntyHeather's nieces and her brother. Ada had an admirer an hour into the zoo after AuntyHeather's niece's admiration focused on somebody new.
A big thank you to UncleHeather and her two dogs for hosting the Lopezjones' (and UncleBrad for joining them) in their adventure into the southwest.

Spring Break

For their first day out of school the Lopezjones' went to the Academy Of Sciences in Golden Gate Park to see the new planetarium show. They were only able to stay for the morning as Gian Marco had to be in school that afternoon.
On another day the Alm family came to SF to spend some time with the twins.  Noah was also out on spring break. After some playtime everyone made their own strawberry tarts.
They came out pretty good, the crust was made out of sugar cookie dough, yum!
Afterwards, everyone headed down to Dolores Park, but not before stopping at the golden fire hydrant that saved the Mission District during the 1906 fires after the earthquake.  Noah had read about the hydrant and was very excited to see it.  Time in the park was cut short dues to a few sprinkles, but everyone had a great time and the sun was shining an hour later.

¡Feliz Pascua!

Easter at the Lopez household started in the afternoon with a family BB-Q.
After the food the Easter egg hunt started.
There were so many eggs to hide all the good spots on the ground were taken so they were also hidden in the trees.
There were so many Easter eggs Navi needed a bigger basket.
The the fun starts.  Many of the eggs are empty egg  shells filled with confetti and the fun part is to crack them on your loved ones heads.
Everyone, even the adults, got into the game.
This was Gian Marco's first Mexican Easter and he found the idea of cracking eggs on others' heads very fun.
By the end some were a bit desperate for more eggs.
It was another fantastic Easter and now the twins are finding even more ways to enjoy their abuelito's fig tree.
