Memorial Day

Monday was a holiday and the American thing to do was to BBQ. The weather was so nice the Lopezjones' decided to dine al'fresco.

Kaana invited a few friends to bake some goods to sell to raise money for her upcoming trip to Vancouver, Canada with her dragon boat team.

Fun Weekend

 The Lopezjones' headed to Salinas again last weekend.  But fir they began their trip with a hike at Mt. Moddona State Park where they had a picnic lunch.

 Then it was off to Abue and Abuelito's house to pick some blackberries.

 The good ones were on top of Chleo's coop.

 Saturday evening everyone gathered at P'ete's house to celebrate Ximena's first communion.

 Many cousins showed up and most of the kids spent their time playing in the jumpy house.

 The next day everyone just hung out in the garden and enjoyed the sun.

Benji came over for a little bit to hang out with the twins. They were so happy to see him.

Check This Out

 Who knows how they figured this out, but one day PapaJason turns around and they are climbing the walls.

Looks like Ada just disproved PapaJason's saying about not being able to do much in a dress.

The Impromptu Show

 At dinner someone suggested Ada sing, but she needed a stage so 20 minutes before bedtime DaddyQuique put together a stage and the show went on... 

Navi presented himself and performed a few Karate moves (what he considered Karate was jumping).

Ada sang the song to Frozen (she knew one verse and has only seen the movie once).  PapaJason performed his famous childhood 'Nudie Dance' (nudity and all, it's a good thing Kaana was still at dragon boat practice), DaddyQuique recited Green Eggs and Ham in Italian and the performance that stole the show was... Lucy dancing.  No video was taken of Lucy or the Nudie Dance.

Someone Turned 60

 Over the weekend the twins went down to Salinas to celebrate Abuelito's birthday.  Their cousin Mark was there and he was thrilled to chase Ada and Navi as well as Abue's chicken.

 Navi could not wait for the best part of any party... cake.

 It was a really fun party with great food weather and plenty of family.

P'ete enjoyed holding Abue's chicken while Ada fed her garbanzo beans picked of the bush.

It Getting Warm Again

There another heatwave coming into the bay area.  Thank goodness SF is an ice cream town.

Mother's Day Hike

 On Sunday the Lopezjones' headed to Marin to grab a ferry...

 Headed to Angel Island.

 It was a three hour hike up and around the Island. The trail was very easy with a gradual slope. There were a lot of butterflies and foliage to look at as well as plenty of poison oak to watch out for.

 There were beautiful vistas.

 And a great spot for a picnic. It was a super clear day in the bay and there were clear views of Alcatraz, downtown SF, all of the East Bay, and the Golden Gate bridge.

Everyone had so much fun on the hike.  Ada and Navi took turns leading, but in the end after some arguing on whose turn it was to lead, Kaana led the remainder of the hike.

Dress Up

It was someone's big sister's prom yesterday and she decided to dress up to match.  Ada was very excited when she realized that her dress-up skirt was just as sparkly as Kaana's prom dress.

Classroom Project

 The student's have been putting a lot of detail into their city of Pompeii. Here is Ada in a period outfit on a boat with her friends.

Navi did not embrace the dressing up, but here he is with his friends in one of the many colosseum with a sword in hand, perhaps he's a gladiator?

Dining Al Fresco

The heat wave last week was welcomed by the Lopezjones' to dine on the deck.  The temperatures have climbed back down to was San Franciscans are used to. It was an enjoyable week.

Heat Wave

This week's weather has been wonderful and getting better.  Temperatures are in the 80's & 90's and will continue to be a nice week.

Pompeii

The twins' class project at school is a slow work in progress, but it is looking very good.

It's very detailed with miniature pictures of the students in Roman outfits.

Easter Part 3/3

 The Easter Egg Hunt.  Kaana helped the adults hide the eggs for the young kids.

 In two groups all the kids searched for eggs hidden in the garden.

 Isaac was able to follow along and was very excited in finding the eggs.

Then the race began and everyone ran all over.

 It was egg cracking time.

 Some of the eggs hidden were plastic filled with treats and others were egg shells filled with confetti.

 Eveyone was having so much fun cracking eggs on heads.

But Isaac was the most excited and practically cracked an egg on everyone there.

 Some resisted the egg cracking, but got into it eventually. Benji didn't want any eggs on his head, but that did not stop his cousins.

 The fun wasn't just for kids.  Kaana searched for some eggs as well.

And the Adults got in on the fun too.

 Happy Easter!

The day ended with PapaJason showing Kaana how to prepare cactus to eat.
